Platanthera Clorantha

Plant with 2 ovate tubers. Stem 20-80 cm high with 1-3 sheathing scale leaves at the base, 2 (3) larger foliage leaves near the ground 1-4 small leaves above them.

Habitat: damp open woodland, damp and wet meadows, fenland also poor grassland up to 2200 m, on base-rich soils, often over limestone.

Flowers: may-august

 

 

 

 


Ophrys Sphegodes

Sepals green or whitish to pink (arachnitiformis), lateral petals yellowish-green to brownish-red, glabrous, often wavy; lip (reddish) brown undivided or slightly, rarely deeply.

Habitat: open woodland, maquis, garrigue poor grassland; up to 1300 m. on fresh fairly dry, base-rich soils

O. Sphegodes group shows a rich variety of forms and is difficult to classify.
